I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

I'm sad that nobody said anything about the battle of Hastings two pages ago.

Also, I'm sad that my high school XC team got second at state. People have been telling me, "Wow, great job, guys! That's the best our team's ever done!" and "Holy cow, you ran a 45 second PR, great job!" and "Second is still really good!", but second place is not what we were aiming for. The only team that beat us, we had beaten twice before, though they had also beaten us twice. We lost by less than a half dozen points. Something inside of me says "hey, that's almost as good as winning", but another part says, "We were so close, we could have won if we tried just a little harder". The worst part is that I, personally, could not have physically run better. That was my fastest 5k time ever my almost a minute, but we still lost.

So close.

THE POINT OF THE GAME IS TO HAVE FUN.

Have you ever run three miles just for fun? No, the point of the sport is to have fun and try to win. Otherwise everyone would run at a light jog and tell jokes to each other instead of sprinting three grueling miles.

Winning is fun.

Which kinda invalidates my joking statement but whatever.

If i understood that right, you seem to imply that for any one thing there is a definitive measurable better/worse scale that everyone is different at and can be rated on impartially.

If my diagnosis is correct, Broody's cat has a Hematoma of the ear. I don't know if I'd trust myself to lance or drain it, since I don't have sterile equipment or suturing materials, but paying a vet to do the procedure will be pricey. Leaving it untreated isn't an option I'd consider, since that can lead to all kinds of ear problems, and the ever-growing chance for serious ear infections.

The cat doesn't seem troubled by it, but the base of his ear is all swollen and hot to the touch, and I figure it's pretty sore. Got to talk this over with Broody when he gets back.

This requires dignity. Hiatus on nose-pokings until further notice.

EDIT: also, my sense of 'heh, nothing happened on British 9/11' was crushed. Apparently the 9th of November was Kristallnacht.

Found out where the 'This is my ______. There are many like it but this one is mine.' thing comes from. I thought it would have been about something else.
