People are depressingly stupid. First off, the Pew polls showing right wing disinformation campaigns are working. Seriously, 20% of Americans think Obama is a muslim... it would seem Murdoch now owns the USA.

Secondly is a bit more lighthearted, but still depressing. Family feud, as many are aware, gets its answers from polling groups of people. Well, my mother was playing the family feud app (which I would assume also got its stats from some sort of polling site) on facebook, and asked for an answer to "An animal which lives in the arctic."
Being already pessimistic about humanity, as surfing the 'net tends to make one, I responded "Penguins."
Her response to me was "But those live south of the equator, not the Artic."
Me: "I know, but people are idiots."
Second answer on the board was penguins, with over 35%. /facepalm
