It's 6:22am here, and I tried to sleep for probably, oh, 20 minutes and decided it was not going to happen. I really need to get my shit in order.

If my 87-year-old great grandmother can do it, so can your mother. She was given a computer last year and now she can read emails, listen to music, and find general stuff in google. I don't think she understands all of it, but she's an 87-year-old woman who's never used a computer.

It's not going to happen, dude.  The problem with my mom is that she's a paranoid, anxious, dyslexic country girl who, though she's been using computers for ... quite a few years, actually, still can't problem-solve her way to signing out of gmail.  She can't read fast enough to learn and be anything less than really annoying while she's learning it... so we're kind of stuck.  She also does everything else at a snail's pace (clicking, moving the mouse, whatever)--so it's not like she gets anywhere very quickly ._.

Oh, well... at least she's getting better.  She's really improved now that she's started looking up yardsales and stuff online.

My mother doesn't understand the concept of file compression, or the difference between "download" and "install", or what a control panel is, or the difference between viruses and pop up ads.  She spends three hours a day on Facebook.

To quote everyone's favorite fictional nerd Sollux Captor, some people shouldn't be allowed near computers.

I could give you the original site (searching for hilarious rule 34 of things I enjoy is one of my hobbies), but Toady would ban me for posting a link to an illicit site. So,

Not only did you miss the genestealers, but you missed the exterminatus as well.

Jesus I think my fax machine just exploded what the hell. It made this farting noise and now there's a horrid egg-like smell and white mist-like smoke leaking out of it. I'm serious, it's sticking to the ground instead of rising up and there's no heat what the fuck.

That's odd. I thought electronics produced blue smoke, not white.
