What would you dad prefer you to read, then?
Just about anything else really. I mean, he'd probably react similarly if he saw me with a Koran, but I don't have any interest in being a Muslim, so that's not on his radar.

Sorry, I'm bad at letting go. I'll shut up about that.

What version? If it was a King James, his reaction was legit :P

Seriously though, don't let yourself be deterred by stuff like that. He's probably reacting out of a fear of the unknown: He doesn't know Christianity, he doesn't understand it, so he fears it. And you can consider yourself persecuted for your faith now - and not committing apostasy in such circumstances is a highly praiseworthy act, as you surely have read in the pages your dad tore out.

Anyway, don't be scared off. But maybe hide the next one better. You could do the old Don Camillo trick and switch out the cover, for example using a cover of Marx' collected works :P

(And watch the Don Camillo and Peppone movies, they're awesome. And they give a good impression of what a good Christian should be like without turning into a recluse or holy man.)

But what religion is he?
It's strange to see people of that generation being... uh... Theophobes?

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

Not all atheists are areligious and secular morality is a thing.

Yeah, it's actually fairly easy. You see evil happening, all the time. Believing in something that is evident is not a very difficult thing.

An atheist can believe in evil because good and evil do not come from religion. They come from society/yourself.

I'm wearing two shirts and three jerseys, it's fifteen and a half degrees, and I'm freezing cold. This is inconvenient.

Also some friends and I ordered pizza but it never showed up. :(

I've got two forum games I want to run and a bunch of cooking snaps I wanna throw on the food thread...
But I just can't be bothered.

There's a bill in front of me which I could easily pay in 30 seconds.
But I can't be bothered.

I have no idea what's happened but this is a very intriguing experience.

Bleeding profusely from the sinuses for 3 hours is not fun. The consequences the next morning of that and most of it draining into the stomach even less so.
