Japanese has no grammatical gender and we all know what Japan is like with regard to sexism.

English grammar is fine. It's English spelling that's an incomprehensible mess (and you darn transatlanticians are only making it worse. Seriously, "thru"?).

Language is a living and ever-evolving thing, though.

I really wish I knew spanish, most people in my town speak it, and some speak only that. I feel like it would be beneficial. I struggle to communicate with my neighbors.

It's not really theft when the language is forced upon you.
There's quite a few of these.

EDIT:
Spanish is too strict, IMO.
Too many rules to memorize.
And that thrice cursed accent.
At least it's not French, with the accents in different directions that mean different things but it's actually really fucking hard to hear the difference.

Scots spelling was so much better. Take quha for "wha" or "who", or Colquhoun for what is now pronounced "Calhoun". A good one is "quheris" for "where".

Here, enjoy this from Nicol Burne, a Roman Catholic "controversialist" from the fair city of Paisley:

All of my this.

I would rather like to learn Spanish though. It's not of much use in this country because there's so few Spaniards or people of Spanish persuasion but it would be handy if I found myself in any one of the countries containing the millions upon millions of Spanish speakers.

Why are rules for writing necessary.

My country has managed quite fine without anybody knowing any, thank you very much.

Here, we have a technical term for people who spell like that. "Fucking idiots".

Considering the fact that I've never heard of your country, no, it hasn't.

But it's too confusing
Why is it necessary

Funny thing... I was talking to a spanish person inquiring to what was in "black soup". They looked at me like I grew a second head. I clarified with "uh... sopa de negra?" and they're like "ohhh!" weird how the same words just don't have the right connection when said in another language.

I learned that it was beans, apparently.

If you think your rules for writing are strange, the Gaelic word "dhomh" is pronounced "Gaw". Well... not really, but it's hard to represent a G-fricative sound in text. Please refer to this link to understand what kind of thing I'm talking about.

Dòmhnall is also pronounced "Doll".

To be fair, Eastern Europe is a monster, and no-one who hasn't put serious effort into learning them all is going to be able to remember them all.

45/50 on America. Missed Delaware, Colorado, Indiana, Minnesota, and Missouri. I can get them all on a good day, but it's been a while since I tried.

36/45 on Europe. Missed Romania, Croatia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Moldova, Albania, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro. I think it's clear where my geographic knowledge fails here, they all have a contiguous border.

Gave East Asia a shot.

22/23. Missed Laos, mixed it up with Cambodia.

44/50 on America. Got Iowa and Colorado confused (the rectangular fuckers), but mostly lucked out on them fiddly north-eastern states.

37/45 Urrope because I literally didn't bother with  the Serbs.
