Lying on the couch under a doona in the pre-dawn loungeroom with the curtains drawn, listening to drone.
Tired as shite and was feeling aimlessly miserable before, but now... this is nice.

Also my long, long walk home was quite scenic at times. I wish I could summon the energy and motivation to do more exploration in better circumstances.

So, a happy thing.

I woke up this morning with a stabbing pain in the right of my gut. My dad had appendicitis around when he was my age, and according to how he described it seemed a whole lot like what I was experiencing. I rushed over to the emergency room, and the doctor said that according to my symptoms, it was probably appendicitis.

I do a blood test, urine test, CT scan, etc., and I'm really freaked out because I really don't want to have to go through surgery.

Doctor comes back, says that none of the tests show that I have appendicitis or any other dangerous condition. He says that I probably just had some really, really bad gas buildup in my colon. So no surgery! Words cannot describe how relieved I am right now.
If you have similar bowel pains more often, try doing a simple lactose test (simple: doctor gives you a glass of concentrated milk, and measures the H2 gas in your breath after half an hour), see if you're lactose intolerant. I wish I had gotten that test earlier, it would have saved me 30 years of incidental bowel cramps, and flatulence (and perhaps I would not have developed irritable bowel syndrome).

EDIT: I still have to giggle at what the doc told me: "If you had any more H2 gas in your breath, I could set it on fire with a lighter"

Appendicitis is one of those interesting illnesses that can mimic quite a lot of other things. A coupla years back, my sister thought she had appendicitis after she pulled a muscle while scootering; it was in the correct area, it was warm and slightly inflamed; she went up to emergency, got a bunch of tests and they all came back negative.

But good on you for addressing it when you thought it could be dangerous.

I just got back from a job interview that I'm reasonably sure I crushed. ^_^
Fun fact: I did crush the interview. I get an official offer later this week, although they've already told me what's coming down the pipe. Full time, benefits, flexible schedule, and bonuses. Just went in today for drug test and fingerprinting. The only thing now is to wait on my background check, which will come up clean.

I've been saying for a long time that I would literally murder someone for a desk job. Turns out, all I had to do was trim my hair up a bit (it's still long,) put on a tie, and murder some generic questions in an interview.

I start training for on my birthday. A job where I'm above the poverty guideline for the first time ever is a hell of a birthday present. Glassdoor and a couple of other sites say that I could make an absolutely huge amount of money by the time I'm entrenched for a year. Something like eight times my pay now (although I'm essentially paid table scraps right now.) I'm going from "not knowing when the next meal is" money, to "buy a house in a rich neighborhood" money.

I'm so excited that I want to throw up.

If you do throw up, don't do it on your new boss. It might leave a bad impression :P

Super excited for MZ.  Having a job that doesn't make you miserable and allows you to be comfortable financially is the holy grail of our generation.
