I think the issue is that there's never been a species as top or dog as us. Once we were able to stay in one place and sustain a stable population by controlling where good grew/roamed, we knocked the wind out of many entire ecosystems, and still are.

Other animals may want to eat until there's nothing left, but nature made them shit at that.
With humans, it either didn't or this apocalypse is going to involve a lot of annoying "told you so"'s.

Are we really top dog though?  I kinda think it just seems that way from our point of view.  I'm sure algae, some bacterias, and even earthworms have had ridiculous impact on the worlds ecosystem.  I mean hell our atmosphere wouldn't even support us unless something evolved photosynthesis to take advantage of all that carbon dioxide in the air.

Managed to read a text in what appears to be medieval spanish (plus it's introduction in regular french). It gets rather... weird towards the end, focusing on things such as "sins of the ears" and "sins of the feet".

Sat down and worked out how much I've spent on steam since the first time. Turns out I've been averaging between 6 and 7 USD a month since some point in 2011. Bit more for off steam stuff... probably call it 10 or so, total. Considering gaming is about the only source of entertainment I actually spend money on, it makes me a bit more cheery about the state of my entertainment budget. Which feels nice. Something something money management.

I was kinda freaking out...  My mind's been in a haze recently, partially due to this heat.  Couldn't focus on anything, spent the day feeling frustrated and dumb.

Finally put on Pandora (oh gods I sound like an advert) instead of podcasts, and mmm.  Still took a few hours, but I did what I needed and I feel like I can speak with confidence about it.  Which is good because, midnight conference call in... uh, 2 minutes haha.

Humans are animals, and several of them are nearly on our level. Additionally, any intelligence that we make would likely think in a way very similar to ourselves, as we'd be basing it off of the human mind.
