Finally made a (normal, non-learning, non-adaptive) AI that works. They only do cast offensive spells, heal each other, and run away after using divine shield at low health, but it's amazing just how survivable that simple algorithm makes them. And with my subsumption-based approach, I can easily add in new stuff to it and instantly know how it will change their behaviour.

At the library with the lady I'm staying with currently. Set it up through WWOOF but I'm basically just helping her unpack her house. What she lacks in actual farm work she makes up for in literature: at least 20% of these boxes/trunks are just books. Fortunately, she has exactly the kind of books I'm looking for: botanical engineering ho!

Oh, that reminds me, tree grafting in DF would be pretty cool. Many-fruited tree. Also honey locusts and carob beans would be excellent additions and above-ground substitutes for sweet pods.

Anyway, I'll be here until next Friday, then off to Colorado to show people that you can make graphene really, really cheaply. After that, who knows.

I'm so excited holy shit it's ASCII minecraft but so much better because minecraft used Dwarf Fortress as inspiration.

That implementation represents everything that mechanically separates DF from Minecraft. Looks like you plan out the building and the game automoves you and your companions around to build it.

This is why it's pointless to try to port most Minecraft mods to DF; those mods tend to focus a lot on automation, which is simply not necessary in DF since everything is relatively automated anyway.
