Just got back from the annual NAACP banquet thingamajig that the department always reserves a table at. There's no meal better than the one someone else paid for, particularly when it involves a buffet.

Meet the B-Team.

February 6, 2016; Saturday. And 9pm in the evening.
My first day at my Godparents' home. They've not physically been in contact with my parents for 31~ years, yet it's only now that I really get to know them much. A group of 6+ people who met during their 30's (as everyone is now a senior citizen, with them at ~70), I've been nothing but inspired and happy here. They've been bestest best best friends since ever! [Especially with the adage that 'Distance is no exception/excuse'. I heard that they keep in contact by a network of people despite the years).

And I've got a ton of quotes from them for lifelong friendship! \o/

I am so happy...

In which I notice that the secret is all in character. All of them went through tough times growing up. They made effort to keep in contact, and a great part is that I was given advice from probably out of nowhere.

One of them came up to me and asked me if I had any friends--I said yes. He said something out of the blue (since everyone noticed how I was at knowing they've been lifelong friends): People are not perfect. You have to accept your friends for who they are--you can't change their past, and you have the present to be with them. Be happy, acknowledge them, grow with them. If you've a good attitude, teach them, and if they have one, they'll do the same.

...And now I understand that I really need to upgrade my thought-to-word translation :I So many things to write and here I am stuck with just a few paragraphs. Argh me!

After a visit to one of the world's great art museums (the Rijksmuseum), what could be better than a big pizza and a cold beer? Probably nothing.

I went to some art museums today too. Most of it was a bunch of too abstract bullshit where the artist got away with being a cheeki bugger trying to say their toilet paper represented the horror of the vietnam war or their triangles represented the plight of the poles, when all it represented was material to wipe your arse with. Conveniently there was also a replica of that famous urinal that that one artist sent to the modernists to pass off piss for art lol
And there was this hilarious moment as well when one of the wire barriers had fallen onto the pile of steel bars on the floor, and the guard was just radioing in "the barrier has broken, it is is lying on the... art"
There were some fucking neat pieces of art though, like that one massive one where they'd made about 60 triangles full of compost from soil grabbed in parking lots and parks all across England with the triangles arranged in a bigger triangle. The soils were all given water and light and what, if anything, grew in those triangles was entirely a matter of what spores or seeds were in the compost as they were taken. There was even a little mouse scurrying about there. Each triangle was its own little microcosm of some community's fauna somewhere, ones choked in dense weeds, ones entirely barren - one even had the beginnings of two little flowers. The smaller art museum next to it had art with much more effort put into them, and they also had artists who had an overfondness of puns, like pictures of men with pig heads or folk talking to brick walls

New chair get! This one wasn't cheap, but the store trusts its quality enough to give it a ten-year warranty. It also has a high enough back to do as a Bond villain, which is always a plus.

I passed a milestone today! I went from Heavyweight to Light Heavyweight. ^_^ I know that doesn't mean anything to anyone but me, but I'm happy about it.
