Seaweed that tastes like bacon when fried discovered, is healthier than most veggies and with any luck will be farmed soon.
Eeewww. It's seafood, it's bacon-tasting, it's advertised as healthy; I can't imagine ever wanting any of that stuff.

And it grows in seawater, which is kind of a huge deal given the way water resources are going.

“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

I am convinced nothing advertised as a superfood is fit for human consumption.

Hell this is just seaweed that vaguely tastes like bacon.

You, uh, you got something against kale there, m8y? Tasty stuff, as long as you don't make chips out of it and keep it out of salads.

... although i agree the word "superfood" is a dumb one

It needs advertising. Like a giant... green... pig.

Too bad the Angry Birds craze died down, good advertising starting point there.

Yes. It's only a possibility. Certainly, nobody participating in this very conversation has overseen any such thing.
It actually takes some effort of will and, paradoxically, laziness, to stop myself from screenshotting every post a certain paranoid forum member makes, but that'd be unnecessarily mean to her.

I mean, half of the satisfaction of bacon comes from the inevitable demise of the pig.

Is something really inevitable if it has already happened by the time we are presented with a second thing which predicates the inevitability of the first?

Are you knocking oatmeal and turkey? Because those are awesome.

"Superfood" is just a buzzword. It's not what makes this cool, what makes it cool is the idea of finally having (sorta kinda) bacon trees.

I like the taste of normal seaweed, personally. Dried sheets of the stuff make for a great snack.
Also I'm pretty sure I've heard kidney beans described as a super food, and they're really nice!

I don't get what's wrong with stuff growing in seawater. We've got plenty of that. Now if it had to be fully submerged in /fresh/ water, that would be another thing entirely.

Exactly. Growing stuff in seawater is an amazing benefit. Get this thing some proper caloric value and you've got the staple food of the future.

I can see farmers getting pretty salty about it, though.
