Thinking about that whole "Newton's flaming laser sword" razor, a thought occurs: in that classic paradox, wouldn't the unstoppable force just pass through the immovable object, thus maintaining both their qualities?

NINJEDIT: I know, but autocorrect thinks it's lazer, apparently.

Force, by definition, has to affect and move things, so the unstoppable force can't simply pass through everything (except destructively), but it the object is intangible to everything, then it cannot be affected by any force, and thus cannot be moved.

Toady is setting up procedurally generated instruments, music, and poetry in DF to add more depth to dwarven cultures. It sounds like it will be possible to make buildings for dwarves to play music in the fortress.

I am more excited about virtual dwarves playing music on instruments than I expected.

Brilliant!

I love the idea. It's all meant to be randomly created, though, right? How can you make something so complicated randomly and expect it to be cohesive?

Apologies if that was answered in the recent talk update, I haven't been through it yet.

It is the only way they could really both be consistent, yeah.

Neat. Good thing I have plenty of room in my fort; I gotta make a theater now. At least instruments are no longer going to be just trade fodder to build up skills.

When this update comes, who is going to try and create Dorf Vegas? Just taverns and service staff, as well as a tiny farming/construction/paramilitary population to provide necessities.
Because one of those people is me.

At some point of being here I understood that DF actually gonna end up as an artificial intelligence. And were are all watching (some even help) its extremely slow birth process.

Indeed. And if one can speculate about the end result by analyzing the current standards, The End will be as horrible as the greats mind like Hawking and Gates have be warning us.
