Is it worthy of an event in celebration?

I got snow here too wheee!
Almost as great as good as rainstorms, but more fun because they're rare.  Going walking.

I've been playing AOEII online against a friend. I still suck balls at it, but it's such a huge nostalgia kick, I love it so. Wololoo.
My friends and I play AOEIII cooperatively on occasion.  I loved AOE 1 and 2 growing up, but I think 3 is potentially just better...  Depends on whether you like the "home city" mechanic where you unlock better stuff over many sessions.  But also, tons more units.  And farms which don't have to be micromanaged!

I use mostly focus on my AOEII strategy of massed longbowmen riflemen, letting my friends handle the sieging.  Though as we've increased the difficulty I've had to switch to cavalry instead...  The AIs strike often and from many directions, rapid response is necessary.

And rice patties are <3

Hmm, next sale I may have to pickup and try AOEIII again. I remember being underwhelmed.

My experience of it is that India is overpowered (compare sepoys to janissaries or musketeers), horse guns are ridiculous, and well-defended positions are near-impossible to take.

It's still a bunch of fun with friends, though. It just could be much better.

Edit: also after a while the AI stops being a threat based on skill and starts being a threat because every five minutes they attack with ~15 horse guns.

XKCD is particularly relevant today.

That was pretty sweet. I recall someone telling me yesterday morning, "Time to see which of my Facebook friends are too cool to watch the Superbowl, but not cool enough not to brag about how much they don't care about the Superbowl." Everyone should be able to get into what they want. And I'll agree that it's all silly bullshit, which makes it even better, especially when it results in things like today where everyone can partake in dead children jokes.

Because trying to stuff Fate/Whatever's engrish and the title of a 17th century book on statecraft into Pokemon syntax tends to make the content incomprehensible.

Weeks after 9/11: Hugo runs in crying. "D-did you all hear the news!?"
Weeks after what now?
The 9th of November, don't you know? It was, like, awful.

Or amazing, I don't know.

Probably offended some peoples with that, so apologies in advance.
People are not going to get offended by a joke about something that wasn't even that major and happened a decade and a half ago.

Or maybe they will, and I've just pissed them off even further.

Still, I don't get why it's still a thing.

It kind of was major though. I mean I was 14 at the time, and found out on the school bus home shortly after it happened, and I was in Scotland.

But yeah, you're right. I just don't like upsetting people. Which is silly, because I don't really even like people.

September 11th is past the expiration date on 'no srs guys not funny' anyways. Anything that pushes people away from the stupidity of month-day-year dating is good.

Just for the record, it was a major thing, but it is long past the "too soon" phase.

It will always be "too soon."  March 5, 1770: never forget.

Now, that I learned how to play Morrowind theme on at least one musical instrument (harmonica), I consider my musical education fitting my current demands.

In other happy news, we now have our widecreen TV in living room connected to computer, complete with wireless keyboard with trackpad, comfy chairs and stable internet.

She likes long, brisk walks~
(I'm talking 3+ kilometers here. She's tall, she walks about as fast as me, which is all in all pretty rare...)

Helgo is now some sort of walking giant, at least 2+ meters, and he finally found his giantess
