I was very nearly a Samuel, but my mother couldn't pronounce it well enough to yell it out the back door. Thus, Nathaniel. :P

(Also my middle name is Mckay which pleases me greatly)

My given name is sort of unfortunate -- I love it (particularly when I learned what I was originally going to be named), but my childhood was fraught with people who somehow couldn't manage to spell or pronounce it for no apparent reason. It also has a pop-culture connotation that matches with my date of birth, though I'm not certain that being named at second-hand for a highly successful Confederate pirate-in-all-but-name is much better.

Eye Iz Dumb?

:P

Also, my name was going to be Evan. Evan doesn't sound too bad, but I'm still glad I didn't get it.

I once knew a guy named Richard Weed. He absolutely insisted on being called Dick.

My dad's name is Todd. He was born in Germany.

This led to some confusion when conversing with people in German about him.
"I just had a son."
"What is his name?"
"He is Todd."
"Oh, I'm so sorry!"

I once knew a guy named Richard Weed. He absolutely insisted on being called Dick.
I know a guy named Richard Johnson. He apparently went through most of middle school being called Dick-Dick. Now most people call him Rick James. It's a street name thing.

I'm named after a book in the bible. Enough said.

Today, I'm really really happy. It finally arrived in the mail; from Chicago redirected through Belgium, and finally here in Central Alberta, I have it.
The illustrated story booklet is much larger and amazing than anticipated, even though I have the pdf already. I didn't even remember that there was a poster that epic with it, which is exciting. I'm still looking for my name in the cover, where there's over three thousand names. But the best part. The best part. The beautiful, shining, green-and-blue vinyl piece, packaged safely in it's back paper in the center of the trifold cover. It is the most amazing, perfect, gorgeous thing I have ever received in the mail. I found the unique number that means it's mine now; 001578. Wow.

I am so honored and happy to receive the physical copy of The Near Future.

I can see "Hi, I'm German" being a confusing introduction.
That's pretty much how it went during my years in that anglophone Swiss boarding school. Add to that my full name being German Olegovich Rudakov, which is apparently hard as all hell for the English-speakers to pronounce and doesn't sound that nice anyway when butchered by the angular English consonants, and you'll see why I stopped liking my name very fast after I left Russia for study.

Unless your name is something like "Deuteronomy," you were probably also named after a person from the Bible, as well.

What does Todd mean in Germany/German?

I know a guy whose last name is literally "Immortal" in Russian (Бессмертный). His uncle happened to have last name which is literally "Wolfhound" in Russian (Волкодав). Therefore he can change his surname to Immortal-Wolfhound on relativity basis.
