Wow, I didn't think anyone would guess it. The former, although it's not pronounced as :, or at least, not by my parents. Everyone else pronounces it that way though... really kind of irksome, to be honest.

I have a fairly normal French first name, Gilles. Problem is, Jill is a girl name and is pronounced exactly the same way. And I'm not French or French-speaking, but eh.
