Laser unicorn?
That's not the way of progress. Laser sea urchin is the way of the FUTURE.

When do I get my light chakram? Or light chain-blade? Or light gunblade?
After you've taken the Extreme! Weapons! Proficiency! feat relevant to the type of weapon you're pursuing.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

What if I want to master un-hilted? That's the way of the FUTURE.

We need more light-based exotic weapons. Light rocks!

Plasma toiletries? No. The shower is a place for cleaning, not accidentally hacking off your lower jaw.

Basic light sabers would make an awesome alternative to chainsaws, though.

Light lighter. Seems like a bad idea at first...

EDIT:
One use. Think of it like the space pen of lighters. Zero-G? No problem, you can still make your own little smoke cloud to reside in. Now think of basic lighter applications from there... We can probably come up with some crazy Macguyverisms here.

Light chopsticks. Yes. No? No. That's a bad idea.

Ooh. Light flak grenades or claymores (not the sword variety). Make that sucker armor-piercing. Might as well be a flat shotgun from hell.

EDIT:
Light flash bombs. It blasts... light.

EDIT EDIT:
Okay, something more sensible. Light Tiger Hook Swords. And here's how to use them. Another good example (They forget to mention, you can hook the tops together, and double your range like a whip, like the other video shows). You can see why un-hilted mastery is the way of the FUTURE; especially where light-blades are concerned.

GTA III
Great. Now you want me to play GTA again. Getting the invinci-limo, and making pileups with 4-5 stars, and a mess of cop cars, going all Blues Brothers with it all over Staunton Island...

Holy crap, was that fun. The music, and even talk radio adds to it.
You can still get it pretty cheap over at GamersGate.

I don't know the source for this, but I heard someone claim that the crossguard on that lightsaber is deflected off from the main blade and the metal bits are just to protect the wielder's hands. It makes a bit more sense, but you'd still probably just end up stabbing yourself with it.

As for the movie itself, I'm cautiously optimistic. If worst comes to worst, I can't see them doing anymore damage to the series than the prequels already have. And for those saying Disney can't or won't do dark, take a look at the latest Captain America movie. I'm not saying they'll make another Empire Strikes Back, but they're clearly willing and capable of moving beyond the realm of "kid friendly".

A lot darker than Disney. I was about 7 when I saw Empire, it was dark for a little kid.

Huh. I saw it at about the same age and I didn't remember it being scary at all.

Did you watch it at home on TV though? I actually saw this at the cinema. Seeing something on the big screen when you're a little kid is different to sitting at home.

Dark does really mean "scary" anyway, that's not what people mean by dark. Grave of the Fireflies is a very dark animated movie for example, and it is in no way "scary". Actually it's far darker than any shock flick.

Well, when people talk about Empire strikes back being dark it's usually meant it's a lot more serious, less-happy-ended than the rest of the (old) Star Wars. You have the good guys getting the short end of the stick, you have bad guys that were seemingly beaten getting a comeback showing they were not beaten at all and you have dark truths being revealed. It is by no means a grim-dark grime fest of nihilistic despair or anything, but in the context of other Star Wars movies? I'd say it does qualify as "dark".

I mean, at least it doesn't have tinny fuzzy bears beating the crap out of Empire's finest, ffs.

Although, now that I think about it, that's pretty dark too, but for all the wrong reasons.
