I finished Reaper Man yesterday and it is probably my favorite Discworld novel so far. Rather philosophical, without being stuck-up.
Oh and there was also

Yeah, the "build up of spirit" from reaper man is as entertaining as the "build up of belief" from hogfather.

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

Nope, but I have like five other Discworld books laying around. Or at least three, Small Gods, Witches Abroad and Guards! Guards!.

And it's technically a buildup of life, not spirit :P (which doesn't actually make that much sense since humans just become ghosts and the minor Deaths were apparently finished rather quickly)

Knowing Belgium, everyone will vote for themselves out of mistrust for anyone else, and some kind of weird direct democracy coalition will need to be formed from 11 million or so individuals.

Oh, Small Gods! Another favorite. The other two are good as well, and Witches Abroad has a really clever moment with mirrors.

Read through Small Gods without getting the pun of the protagonist's name, then I handed the book to my brother. He gets it immediately, starts laughing his ass off, and explains why.

On a slightly more subtle note, at the beginning, Brutha's superior is called Nhumrod.

As per Carpe Jugulum, I have a really love-hate kinda thing for it myself. The story, for the most part, is cool, and Pratchett once again 'rips off' a plot not yet even half-formed by the more known version at the time of publishing the book, but the ending is really grating for me in how Sueish Granny Weatherwax becomes. She essentially Deus Ex Machinas the entire resolution.

Is this some mythology gag I don't get?

EDIT: Oh, I just realised. Brother.

And Nhumrod. Nimrod.
Dammit, you ninja-edited me >:C

And it's not just "brother" as in monk, but also as in "help a brutha out, mang." Had a similar moment of fridge hilarity with "Djelebebi"

And Hersheba is named specifically because of people not getting Djelibeybi.
