So, this has nothing to do with happiness, but what is your favorite number system: binary, base 10, base 12, base 16, or another base?
Third base. 8)

Base -37.76 is best base.

In unrelated happies, all the hugs in the other threads made me remember the hugs and kisses elemental and go hunt it down again.

I have about 30 separate avatars on rotation
Can't keep track of all of them  :P

what do you use to rotate them anyway did you set something up yourself or is there some website you can use

I use sign avatar: it uses random load rotation. Others might use a website with a timed rotation

Negative bases are horrible. You have to add and subtract to get your number, and it can take up to ten seconds longer to calculate.

10. It lets you do neat tricks with your fingers and other parts of your body. Base 12 is terribly overrated by people who haven't done any research into it at all. I don't want to say that my index finger is 7.24972497249...% of all my digits, thanks.

See, that's just discriminating against people with 12 fingers.

I think. I'm too lazy to do the math.

I was always fond of base-pi number systems.

Seriously, though, there are 10 kinds of people in the world. Those who understand (unsigned) ternary, those who don't, and those who thought I was (also) going to make a binary joke.

There are 10 kinds of people in the world. Those who like binary, those who like ternary, those who like hexadecimal, those who like duodecimal, those who like decimal, those who think we should switch to duodecimal because they don't know that it has infinite repeats too, those who don't know how number bases work, those who don't know how prime numbers work, and those who like nonary.

Why would anybody think that?

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Switching to anything other than the base-ten system is far too impractical. Why would anyone suggest that?

Are they like the people who think metric time is a good idea?

But I like duodecimal...

Counting finger segments just feels so much nicer!
