Welcome back! I trust you are now able to cover three kilometres through rough terrain in ten minutes, whilst cleaning a standard-model assault rifle.

And if there weren't a new DF edition, I would still be happy, because it now takes me only 0.4 seconds to draw a concealed handgun and land a bullet in the alpha-zone (head, neck and middle of the chest) on my opponent. And I can now set up PCRs like a boss and all of the flu viruses the DNA of which I had been sequencing gave good, legible results.

And also I learned how to make organic cucumber grass risotto without it tasting watery.

Nowhere near that fast, unfortunately. But you are right about the rifle - Kalashnikovs are stupidly easy to maintain, it's like lego, honestly, except that it spits fiery death and is responsible for more dead Americans than hamburgers.

That's actually a standard part of the maintenance procedure, I kid you not.

I think - I think - I've finally managed to approximately measure the central tendency and dispersion of a discrete random variable, which is a function of a Negative Poisson-Binomially distributed variable, by truncating it from above and measuring the median and MAD from there. If the normalization factor is more than half then I can get an exact median and estimate the MAD with useful error bounds, a relative error roughly proportional to the normalization factor of the complement. Since median and MAD are robust measurement, this approximation may be too, and I don't have to worry about troublesomely infinite or undefined means and standard deviations.

PROGRESS :D

Go me! And others, I suppose. Credit where credit's due.

Just to be clear, not the *GUN* being upside down. Or the knife.

Also when did LSP hijack DwArfY's account?

BFEL is down to 236 pounds!

I started around 258, so I think I'm doing pretty awesome.

That's the spirit! Don't give up and you'll be fit as a fiddle in no time. My dad used to weigh as much as you, but with hard work and dedication, he lost about 30 kg and now all the women are hitting on him. Although it's probably the money.

Woo, simulator Humble Bundle purchased. I am dubious as to whether Turbo Dismount counts as a simulator, but I'm not complaining that it's there. Also I now have a spare copy of Euro Truck Simulator 2 which I can't think what to do with.
