Had a glorious, spontaneous weekend with the SO. For dinner Saturday night, I figured "what the hell, let's drive into Chapel Hill and have a nice meal". Despite it being graduation weekend and every restaurant being slammed. We just walked around until we saw an open table by a window. Jumped inside, got the table, had one of the best meals ever. Wild mushroom gnocchi and risotto with asparagus and peas and perfectly-cooked salmon. Also, much snuggling and happiness. ^o^

Now that I'm on summer break, I'm finally rejoining the workforce. I've got a position starting tomorrow on the second shift at an auto parts factory, and orientation this afternoon. Even better, I've seen a cardiologist, and although there is some weirdness, it is unlikely to be serious. they still want me to come in tomorrow morning for some testing, and I'm not looking forward to the IV they're gonna do, but it'll still be better than not knowing what's going on.

Planted most of the garden yesterday. Got some squash, corn, peppers, chives, and spring onions(the spinning kind). Still have to plant the pumpkins and watermelons.

Good work!
Having a vegetable garden is always a good thing.

Then you must raise slugs. Breed the biggest, fattest slugs you can and put them in your salads.

Or make a ring of salt around your veggies...?
I dunno, does that actually work?

We had a vegetable garden.

No longer. We try to grow vegetables and we get slugs. SWARMS of slugs. The only thing ever able to survive their onslaught was the strawberries, and that was through sheer weight of numbers.
Have you tried encouraging birds to live around your garden? They do a good job of keeping slugs under control.
I mean hedgehogs would too but they don't really like being near where people are.

I'd imagine it would, given that physical contact with salt drives slugs/snails to a horrible, broiling end, and it's not like they can fly or anything silly like that. Although, you'd potentially also poison your vegetables and surrounding soil, if you're not careful to contain the salt. Use a rubber or plastic border, two concentric rings with a narrow space between them, partially burried under the ground as deep as you're willing to go, and line the soil between the two barriers with salt.
