The best thing is when you make educated guesses about how the world works, using the facts you already know to come to a conclusion, and it turns out being right. I had a really good day today.  I'm feeling much, much better.

Played a little of The Witcher II (still need to work on graphical settings a bit), did some emailing around and contacting people, fancy-wrapped a friend's present and prepared it for mailing complete with sassy note, made really awesome origami boxes for my new roommates (seriously, these are WAY better than the ones I've made previously, and I'm really proud of myself for getting better with color), watched some 30 Rock and Star Trek.  Parents gave me a book of essays on French Feminism and an Umberto Eco book

I'd like to get more real work done in my day, but tomorrow I'm going to go spread tutoring flyers around, go the library, run some errands and stuff.  Should be fun and productive, and I may even be able to get some writing work done.  As I'll be on mass transit for some 7 hours, I'll definitely be able to do some reading :3

You could probably adapt this.

EDIT: A truly dedicated madman could create a monitor with decent resolution and color display by using a 3-deep stack of floodgates (each one of RGB), and creating an 800x600 grid, although this would require the utilization of the entire surface of a bigger-than-possible map. Just creating the monitor for a 3D game, then, would be an unprecedented megaproject all its own. The rest would... god, I don't even know. I don't think there's actually enough space for the hardware on even the largest DF maps, even if you did have a computer that could execute it at a sane speed.

Also, I don't know how computers work.

Right here. Not sure if it ever achieved Turing-complete, though. And I'm sure there's other projects like that on the dorf mode boards; that was just the first one that came to mind.

Update: Only got one hour of sleep or so.

Battle plan: Drink many, many cups of coffee and Dr. Pepper until near nighttime. Listen to calm music all day and avoid too much light. Keep using the darkling skin.
