4chan is a basket of communities. You can't really assign goodness or badness to it as a whole. I like /tg/, personally. /sci/ can be decent at times, like the Curiosity landing. Nobody likes /b/.

SA founded LP'ing and still produces the best LPs of any site on the internet, but the elitism can really wear outsiders thin.

4chan varies depending on the board; the fa/tg/uys are pretty cool sorts most of the time.

SA has quality, but as MSH said they can be fairly elitist.

reddit is a massive shithole, a star-sized Sarlacc with feces, insanity, and depravity instead of teeth.
