I had an entrance exam to an IB school today... and I totally aced that motherfucker.

Okay, maybe that's an exaggeration. I totally botched the maths portion, but otherwise it went okay. As long as everyone else totally sucked, I'll be in.

Wait, why do I want in? That shit is insane. It's a thousand times harder and more work than the national line. FFFFFF-

I'm not sure which country you live in, but in here... Yeah, it's harder. Not only is that stuff generally harder, but you have a lot more homework as well and since that stuff is hard you actually have to do them. It prepares you better for Academia if you're so inclined and it might help you land a part time job somewhere though. Plus you get to form your own little elitist clique at school since you're so much better than everyone else there. That's always cool.

Could be as good as a Smurfs/Dances With Wolves crossover.

Also, the library has a job opening for something I did through most of high school, and probably also utilizes my skills from my previous and current jobs(ie: shutting brain down for long periods of time, taking crap from people who have absolutely no right to have a problem, etc). Even if I don't get it, I'm still feeling good about it.

After spending years and years trying to get into various research positions at a certain reputable University, I finally got an offer. It isn't a position cleaning labs or tending other people's experiments and equipment either, but for a pretty prestigious body of research which is regularly used and emulated by the international community, strongly shapes governmental policy, and has the potential to improve the quality of everyone's life.

I'm trying to maintain an emotional distance from how happy I am, so I can type coherent sentences and avoid rolling around all giddy-like... but fuck if it isn't hard. There are not enough D's in the world to add to my current :DDD

Word of advice. The emotion you shouldn't maintain an emotional distance from is happy.

Solifuge makes me happy.

Also: Hardly any homework this week, and I changed my degree plan so I can take pretty much any class I want and get a degree for it!

Man, college is so awesome. :D

I find I like to step away from everything and like, stand in a corner or pace slowly, when I'm in a moment of happiness.  I consider it more like savoring the feeling than distancing from it though.
