You can use the ALT+[type number on numpad] to insert a specific unicode character, but generally it's easier to look it up on a table and then copy paste it.

What do you do for letters? I tried following a code, and got a different symbol. Plus my browser keeps bringing up the Edit menu and stuff.

Just compile a list of characters and the funny emoticons built from them, put it in a text file, then copy & paste them as needed. It's much easier than figuring out how to type most of them.

Probably the weirdest place I've seen a DF reference. I was only there to see if there was any new development, because, even though it's got a lot of stupid in-jokes, BrikWars itself is a pretty cool idea (that being a schizotech Lego wargame), and it had some ideas that got me thinking in the past.

Since the internet has been completely banned at work, I've taken to reading comics on my tablet to get through the day. 

I'm almost caught up on The Walking Dead.  Stopped at #90 today, and will soon have #91-96.  Damn, I love this story.  It sucks that I'm about to be back at the point where I have to wait in monthly increments.  I think the best thing to do now is hunt down some of Kirkman's other works.

Also started reading The Maxx.  I loved the mid-90's cartoon version on MtV's Oddities.  As far as I can tell, having last watched the show like 6 years ago, it was completely faithful to the comic.  I'm pretty sure 100% of the dialogue and narration was verbatim, and the art style was dead on.  Pretty awesome.  Makes it feel kind of weird to read the comic now.
