I can't decide if I like or hate the way the dialog wheel in Mass Effect has to paraphrase what you say.

A guy who has no business in the military, let alone the spectres, says he wants me to sign him on as a spectre so he can fight the good fight.  I choose "There are no good fights."  Shepard sticks a gun in his face and says "This is what the Skyllian Blitz felt like, you like it?"

The guy said I wasn't a hero and ran away crying.  Shepard has not a fuck to give.

Yeah, Mass Effect and LA Noire and so forth are pretty bad about that.  I liked the old school Bioware Obsidian RPGs handled variable dialogue options.  I remember a lot of major conversations in Planescape would give you a half dozen different responses, some of them with the same wording but being truth or lies or forceful or whatever.  I guess it's a matter of flexibility.

Well in LA Noire you can at least check what the accusation is and back out without penalty if it's stupid.  Doubt vs truth is always so vague though.
