I've read the decently lengthy TwHE/Evangelion crossover fanfic >_>

Still haven't seen any of the anime or read through all the manga though :-\

Tankcat is great, though. Tank cat is great.

I imagine there's at least one person out there who legitimately sees Satan as sympathetic and God as a douchebag.
Under some biblical interpretations I do.  Well, mainly ones that have kindof died out by now (since Satan is generally just seen as pure evil if he is present at all in modern theology).

Are we talking about Satan the embodiment of all Evil or Satan the deeply flawed tragic antihero?

I can understand why some would unironically like Satan. Their perception of Satan, that is. I haven't invested much on my Christian Lore but isn't Satan the great deceiver or something in some interpretations? Wouldn't it stand to reason that someone would really like the deceiver, if only because they've been deceived to like it.

And I've never heard of this Katawa Shoujo. Serves me right for having specific tastes in anime.

Are those the guys that'll send you an official certificate of membership of the Church of Satan for a fee?

Nah it's no biggy if you haven't heard of it. It's just audacious enough that it attracts people's attention.

I'm sure it was every bit as weird as I imagine it to be.

I thought the Church of Satan was more of a parody religion. Or at least they aren't very serious about it. I think Gnosticism would probably be closest but that's more of a God is Satan thing.

Eh, he's not quite 'pure evil' officially in the Roman Catholic Church, and we do very much acknowledge him as more than just symbolic.

I think using the technical definition of Gnosticism Satan would be an intermediary being as opposed to a god. Although we would need somebody with experience in this stuff to say for sure.

I'm just happy this discussion has been going as long as it has before feelings get hurt and egos need to be enforced. Spirituality is a volatile subject.

Through Paranatural, I found another fairly young webcomic called Vibe, which is also exceedingly cool and well-done. The hero is a witchdoctor who fights "bad vibes", and the story deals with Voodoo lore in a far more indepth way than most stories do (voodoo dolls, I'm looking at you). The whole "externalization of internal conflict" thing is a really neat angle too... I'm surprised more stories haven't borrowed or been inspired by Voodoo lore!

Have you read the Invisibles?

Or you could see him as being unfairly portrayed as a deceiver.  Saying that someone is evil and lying to you even if what they say is perfectly sound is one way to dismiss someone you can't argue against but who you have greater power than.

I wouldn't really trust God to provide an unbiased portrayal of his enemies. This is probably due to reading to much Sandman but if I found out that both God and the Devil were real and had to pick one or the other I would probably pick the Devil. I find much of Gods conduct in his likely already biased book disgusting and I doubt that the Devil could be much worse. And really, I doubt it would have ended well either way so what the hell?

Further, God created Satan and has full godly power over Satan, so God would be responsible for whatever Satan does anyway, even the deceiving.
