A while ago, I got to thinking to why you can't catch Pokemon you knock out. Then I realized something. It seems no major think for some 10-year-old to take a bit of amber to a lab and say "Can I haz Aerodactyl?" and the scientists will instantly turn the amber into a massive flying death-machine(and give it to a 10-year-old). Considering this, I think that when a Pokemon faints, it dies a dead death, but things like Revives and those machines at the Pokemon Centers can regenerate them back to life. I mean, with the ease they resurrect long-extinct fossil Pokemon, it shouldn't be too hard to do that for something that hasn't been buried under a million years of rock. It would explain how a Pokemon can possibly survive using Selfdestruct or Explosion(they don't), and maybe why you can't catch a wild fainted Pokemon(possibly the Pokeball doesn't recognize them as being something it can catch).

You may have also stumbled on why they have no problem sending 10-year-old children into the wilderness, with no tools, no established safety network, and no survival training. If the tech for revival and regeneration exists for Pokemon, it probably existed for humans first.

Kid died in a tragic accident? No worries, take her to the Medical Center; they'll regenerate her in no time.

On the topic of Pokémon and inferred backstories, here's a picture I found on /vp/. It's rather interesting:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I'll admit though, some parts of it make more sense than other parts.

I think that's every single kooky theory all jumbled up into one image.

I gotta say, I really wish some of that were canon.

Though I don't know why the goldduck and psyduck are doing above abrakadabra. I don't get the secret face/real face thing. Is a master ball really just an ordinary ball with "W" panties wrapped around it? Who would even think of that?

Panties? No no no.

This is Nintendo. They would never do such a thing. Also, who plasters W's over all their stuff?

The real answer is it's Wario's speedo on top of a regular pokeball.

They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

A paperback print of Snow Crash

One of the most entertaining books I've ever read.  Also inspired the name of my first born (Hiro).

4 points, 5 points, 6 points? What?

Think of geometry. Look at the pictures.

It would explain why something so useful isn't in mass production.

Stranger than fiction, quite nice, love the idea of the thing and it's fairly well done.

Plus british accent narration is always sexy, especially if it narrates via sweet book phrases :D
