Empire: Total War. Playing as the Dutch, the year is 1778, I control 57 territories, have $50k surplus per year, and the greatest land and naval forces of any nation (8 first rate and 2 second rate ship of the lines, with another 2 first rates on the way). Due to my massive surplus, I have decided that every other nation will be wiped out by 1790. Construction of half a dozen or more full stack, max tech armies are now in production all over the world. I control South and Central America, with holdings in the western half of North America, I took all of India and am currently driving the Maratha back through the Middle East, I control all of northern and most of Western Europe and some of the borders of the Mediterranean. I think I'm about ready to declare war on everyone at once. :D

Now I just have to beat my Russian campaign, in which I owned everything by 1791.

Today will be a good day.
I can feel it.

Yup, I knew it.
Friend just called and we're going shooting.
Like, real guns, not the airsoft guns I'm usually stuck with. :D

Getting VirtualBox properly set up so I can do some CS problem sets on the provided virtual machine. Sorely tempted to spend the rest of the day re-installing Ubuntu and then finding some way to get an Ubuntu-based install of VirtualBox to run my existing Windows installation. This probably isn't actually possible, alas.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

I think the fact that the subs don't correspond to what actually is said even funnier than the reaction itself.

So, uh, can we get a link to that vid? Looks supremely awesome.
Yes, when it's done. I'd like to edit it in a manner that isn't just me throwing a shitty song on it, and I think for the laughs will use a cutesy and catchy chinese pop song. Screw all the youtube "I'm so hardcore" music videos with obnoxious music.

:3 all the way down.

Hitler's reaction to seeing himself on Captain Planet.

I watched this with audio off and the Google Transcribe Audio thing on. So it was a computer trying to transcribe cartoony "German-accented English" into English. The result is flat what.

I just found out that Nathan Fillion did voice work in the Halo series.
In Halo 3, he played a character named Reynolds, and in ODST and Reach, he voiced Edward Buck, whose model is also based directly off of Fillion.
And some of his lines are lifted out of shows he's done.

I got the song in mind already, but I was looking at others and found videos of Jackie Chan singing lullabies and Mulan's "I'll make a man out of you".

Fuck yes Jackie Chan, you are the greatest role model ever.

The reason why I was saying "best day of my life" yesterday is because the exchange between myself and Rosewood has signaled the beginning of the end.  Rather, this is the first time in my life when I'm not sitting around with active baggage distracting me.  Passive baggage... well, yeah, but that's not such a big deal.  This sounds the door closing on what will hopefully be the most difficult part of my life.  It's the end of my childhood, anyway, as I keep track of time.

I don't have to carry all that crap with me anymore.  Thank the heavens.
