I saw a comment by MetalSlimeHunt on youtube, and I was like; Well its a small internet after all.
Where?
I recall seeing a handfull of comments by Bay 12'ers on youtube myself, actually. I've also seen a lot of comments by Schilcote on there. He's just everywhere for some reason.

Caught Gangs of New York on a movie channel again.  It's one of my favorite movies ever and one of the best made in the modern age, so I'm always glad to see that it's more than an unairable cult hit, as its ribald violence and Scorsese direction should make it.  Sure, it takes a lot of liberties with the chronology of real events and people (by making them all take place at the same time), but anyone who wants to learn the character of real American history (if not the specific facts) would do well to watch it.

Japan is technically involved in the war against the English but thus far they appear to have sent over one (Read: ONE) samurai to support their Roman "Comrades" in their crusade. The Romans, showing usual Roman psychology, have decided to try and guilt the Japanese into more help by lavishing gifts upon them. Thus far this tactic has been failing miserably.
Hmm... does the Inverse Ninja Law extend to samurais?

No wonder they're giving gifts. That lone samurai will destroy every enemy they have.

As for whether or not it holds, I think this story illustrates it does:
http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2011/06/02/soldier-cited-for-holding-off-up-to-30-taliban-by-himself/
If it holds for Gurkhas, it holds for Samurai.

Which Civ are you playing?
America. Less because I happen to live there (If it was just that I'd play Persia because Persia was awesome) and more because the Manifest Destiny bonus is way to good to pass up. Add on top of that a mod that give America a special wall that produces food and you've got yourself a winner.

Oh...

Civ 5. It's a Standard sized Terra map. No city-states, because I wanted to play a type of "Classic" mode. In play we have:
America (Me)
Japan
England
Rome
Siam
Greece
China (Dead)

With the PC of course kicking the living shit out of everyone because I don't know how to lose.

You have Siam in your game? You should totally have a civil war so they offer you a herd of war elephants. (Damn it, Lincoln)

Unfortunately, Civil wars are not implemented. It would be fun to see what a Classical Era civil war in the US would do to history.

As it is, however, I would rather the expansion of nations be worked on, as currently there's a giant hole in the middle of this worlds version of Africa where Greece and Siam both refuse to settle, despite many resources and plenty of food. The A.I needs to see expansion as a #1 priority, above pumping out enough spearmen to bring down a Giant Death Robot.

I'm happy because today I get to eat tuna sandwiches.

Say what you will about tuna sandwiches, but I haven't ate them in years. This just tastes and feels so good.
