People can do whatever the F*** they want. If they feel comfortable using full swears they use them. If they feel comfortable using censored words they use them.

I'm pretty sure you can get really creative with swearing in Chinese, too. Or at least, so I've learned from Firefly.

I have to agree that seeing people type f*** on the internet when there are no censors is really irritating.  No one's going to call your parents.  If you're that uncomfortable with swearing, don't swear at all.

Firefly's putonghua is weaksauce some times. But yes, you can. Especially given that one of the common angry things to swear is that you threaten to have sexual relations with their mother/sister/uncle/ancestors/etc. This is sort-of-not-taken-literally, so a peasant yelling this at a recalcitrant ox or a broken-down car wouldn't seem strange. I have personally heard a guy yell the equivalent of "(I will) F**k your sister!" at a broken ATM machine.
