Is that what irony means these days? It's so hard to keep up with it, last I knew it meant pretending to like something you don't, which I suppose still fits the technical definition.

I guess we do need a word for things that are so bad they're good. That phrase is kinda unwieldy.

Irony is one of the most argued about words, to the point that I attempt to use it as little as possible for fear of the undercover IRONY POLICE.

I attack with my +5 irony sword and get a bonus for being a berserker due to it's unwieldy nature.
Sudden desire to make a roguelike that parodys forums. This idea made me happy.

Not especially. M-W just compiles definitions accepted by a sufficient number of the populace. They aren't the final arbiter of correctness in language.
