Some people on this forum meant a lot to me. I remember awhile back, years even, Aqizzar said something along the lines of "I can't really say I don't buy into not being able to form meaningful relationships over the internet". Not verbatim. But it's happened. It's a thing. I've had them.

That does sound an awful lot like me.  It's certainly noncommittal.  I like to think you've helped with that.

Because of... A very affecting and happy, yet sad event that happened today. I've decided that until 12 PM US central time, the happy thread will be locked down. In respect of a very emotional and moving event that happened to a very, very close friend of mine. I would ask that the other emotion threads be given the same treatment, but that's not totally necessary. And is likely overstepping my boundrys.

Thanks for understanding everyone. The thread will be back in around nine hours. Thank you all for keeping it going this long and being reasonable more often then not. And also thanks Toady, for putting up with what crops up in this thread sometimes.

This happened:

So. I'm going back to school. Soon. I'm also going through training. Six months out of the year I'll be on the other side of the Atlantic. With my family.

The other six months I'll be somewhere. California is a shattered plate of lost friends and old scars that will eventually fade into thin, intricate lines. Life goes on. People depend on me.

The last year has been a trying time. Mostly, I've been growing. Along with other people. Realizing I can't make everything better, but I could try, and just fail time and time again. Fail myself, fail the people around me, but mostly I failed her.

The best friend I've ever had, has a heart condition that could kill her. Whether or not it will only she could say. She gave me back my life a few years back. Or I gave it back to myself. I thanked her. The threads draw thin as time beats down on me, saying I need to move. Need to stop letting nightmares coax me into submission.

I'm so much stronger. The people around me made me stronger. Not the kind of strength you make into a facade so people can't see your weakness. The kind of strength that comes from overcoming weakness.
