A few days back, a large percentage of people I know (including friends, coworkers, and aquainted netizens) were feeling listless, depressed, or otherwise down. Suddenly today, everyone hit an upswing, and is feeling driven, capable, and self-actualized. I wonder what caused this cohesion of mood and inspiration, since the mood seems to have struck people all over the place, and all at once. Only thing I've noticed that was broad-reaching is the fact that it's a full moon tonight.

I've always found certain things in this vein interesting. I've seen and felt behavioral trends during full moons... people seem to be energized by it, happier, and less likely to sleep. Historical observations have pointed out the same trend, which is described by the word "Lunatic", originally meaning "a periodic mania dependent on the changes of the moon". Granted, there's never been hard evidence produced for a direct relationships between lunar cycle and behaviors... but it's still something that has been observed by people the world over, independent of cultural heritage. Could be as simple as the greater amount of light during the night, or any number of effects from proximity, etc.

In short, the Full Moon is making me happy, largely because I don't know why. The pseudoscience and mystery continues!

as you said, there's far more light on a full moon night than any other. on a clear sky night with a full moon its almost as if it were day except everything is blue.

also, the moon is strong enough to affect our world's water. our bodies are made up of mostly water. I don't understand why we are not more affected by it.

also laying flat on your back on a nice hard floor is an excellent way to relive sudden back pain (assuming going to a chiropractor or masseuse is out of the question)

We are affected by it, except there is more water in the sea, and every single molecule is affected slightly.

Anyway, probably the ligt did it. Gravity probably didn't.

my wife just got a full time job as an office clerk in a building that is 5 minutes by foot away.

this ends a period in which we counted every dollar and worried constantly about money. Aura was missing Mexico so badly but now we can save up and go for a vacation there ^.^

we are ecstatic especially since her first few paychecks will overlap with my EI benefits ^.^

Thank god.  One of my professors asked me "what kind of math I want to study."  Good Sign.  Very good sign.  Means he doesn't think I'm one of the BA pure math => Econ, law, CS, or physics folks.

...

I am just slightly obsessive and hung up on this.  Do not mind me.  Someday, I will read a book or finish Tales of Symphonia, and that will go in the happy thread.  I swear that at some point there will be at least one Vector-originated post with absolutely no mention of mathematics.

I... yeah.  I know ._.

The sentiment remains, though.

You could make Mafia related posts. Those aren't math oriented.

You don't talk about the Mafia.

Unless you're in the Mafia.
