I've never seen the point of nuzlocke.
Restricting yourself based on fainted pokemon is pretty ironman interesting. Its also more grindy if you lose a bunch of pokemon, but its still a challenge of somekind. Only using certain kinds of pokemon could also be a good challenge.
But also restricting yourself to only one chance for one pokemon per one route on top of that is just asking to be fucked over by the RNG more than the average roguelike player. Repeatedly.

It's pretty fun when you have to fight something that you just can't deal with effectively. (unless it's Poochyena in the early stages of a psychic-only Emerald run. Those fuckers can go straight to hell)

The point is so you don't just bust out your favorite super-leet build, but then again I'm not some kind of competitive player, I've never played past Ruby (And I barely played Ruby), so I'm thinking it's not a huge deal for me.  I'll cut that one out and just do regular ironman.  permadeath, no save scumming.

Honestly, I think the permadeath is the /less/ important component of a Nuzlocke run. It's supposed to force you to diversify and adapt to circumstances.

Playing an ironman run, without the Nuzlocke components, is just... grindy. And not in a fun way. I honestly don't see much of a point without some sort of restriction on pokemon selection. Replacing it with some other limiter should be equally as effective though.

Even just limiting yourself to one pokemon catch per area (missed opportunities don't matter) should be fine if you don't know in advance what you'll find there.

That's what I was worried about, and why I brought it up.  Just permadeath didn't seem as hard, especially since I usually don't lose Pokemon except when there's a bad type matchup or a freak accident.  Maybe I'll stick with one per area, allowing missed chances.  Still permadeath though.

I almost ran a 13~ minute mile. Uh, is that good? I work in KMs...

It was almost, because I got to .80 at a rate of 4.5 mph, before I went "OHGODMYLUNGS" and turned it down by a .5. I finished at 16 minutes.

13 minute mile is on the slow side.  Still a mile though, pace yourself yo

I'm also about to start my snowboarding class, which takes place entirely at night. It will probably be fun, and if it isn't fun, I will probably be dead or unconscious as a result anyway.
Ooh, nice. But aren't you in SC or something? Anyways, that reminds me that I have a free complimentary tuition-included season pass to my school's ski hill that I haven't used.
North Carolina, you heathen.

Snowboarding was....kind of fun? Mostly frustrating, stressed out my off-foot and I very nearly slid down the bunny slope on my face more than once.

Well considering I would die at 20 minutes per mile a week or so ago, I think it's pretty good! AND this is after coming off of a cold! :3

Did you get to the proper slopes by the end? (My brother was not incredibly happy with my crash course "you have exactly 5 hours to learn to snowboard then we are doing the FUN hill" lessons last time I went, but I naturally assume most people would want to get to the real slopes ASAP).

Any Bay12ers that happen to live in Australia: First, my condolences for the fires. Second, do you know when/where the first one was this year?

Massive rewiring of the television that turned into apartment cleaning. I don't mind a little mess, but damn is it good to be able to walk around the living room without tripping over anything.

Also, I guess I still have the sense of humor of a 5 year old.

No, but this isn't the only time I'll be up there. We've essentially finished the "tutorial" part of it, though I still can't control very well and can't get down the hill without falling at least once. I almost made it on one run, but had to intentionally crash in order to avoid running over another student.

Technically speaking I could attend intermediate or advanced courses whenever I want, but I think that would be a good way of getting injured. I believe next time I'll be going from green to yellow slopes, but I refuse to touch red or black until I can turn consistently instead of being forced to go with the will of the ice. Otherwise, I just know I'm going to crash into a tree at 20 MPH.

I don't think it helped that we only had artificial snow this time. My manual describes it as being wildly erratic in quality and generally rough. We could very well have natural snow by next week, so that should be good.
