I'm having flashbacks of my end-of-semester project in ProEngineer...

I tried getting into Blender a while back, it was like uh... like learning something really difficult  :o  Even with the community around it to teach it.  One google search got me some basic maya stuff, enough to get me comfortable and start thinking about the possibilities.

It's not the easiest interface to learn, but you can do all sorts of things with the free time of a high school student, a lack of funds, and being too stubborn to just pirate something else. It's not too bad once you get used to it, but trying to use it without a numpad (like on my current laptop) is suicide.

I know I'm late to the party (I was at work, dammit!) but Maya's fire effects are really pretty.

I've briefly gotten into Blender. Surprisingly powerful for a free program, and despite being not as user-friendly (more interface-wise) as the other 3d programs, I've been able to get a good hold of the program.

Made this crazy-ass ship (incomplete) based on an old idea and sketch I made. Turned out better than I thought so far.

EDIT:
Great, Picasa updated it's formatting settings. Can't seem to bypass it to show images at full scale anymore that way. >:(

Heh, yeah, when I said Blender had some eccentricities, I mean it's common to find cases of "Oh, here's this important feature you will use a lot. We don't have any button on the UI for it, but here's the keypress combination to use it. Good luck." They did a major overhaul of the UI since I last used it, but it used to be the case that it was kind of the Dwarf Fortress of 3D model software as far as interface design and learning curve go.

In other news, I showed my little sister the wonders of Skyrim! Even non-gamers like it, and will be hooked into playing it for hours, hehe.

$14: Chantelise, Half-life series, and The Witcher: Director's Cut.

Now let's see if some of the other games I want go on ridiculous sale over the holidays.

I actually myself just got Chantelise and Orange Box for about 12$ on Steam.

I also have a 50% off voucher for any Valve game, hehehe, so if Portal 2 drops price again I'm going to get that.

Ahhhhh, capitalism!

Remember that most of the coupons are only good AFTER the sales are over. If it goes below 50% off during the sale pick it up then and keep the coupon in case you wanna buy someone or yourself something after the sale.

Unless it's a gold coupon. In that case it's good right now.

It's weird how nice the little things could be. I was telling the girly how pretty she was, and then she blurted out "well you look like a korean popstar with your long hair!" and I just about melted.

Face it Kael, you're a walking candidate for "The Most Interesting Man in the World" in his younger years. When you drink beer, you should start drinking Dos Equis, just to get a taste for it.

In other news, Dungeons of Dredmore. The first callback I see: the difficulty setting is a Callback to Dwarf Fortress. I... One of the developers is on this forum, hunh?
