I blame you and your graduations for encouraging me posting this :I

SO first day of masters \o/ in Psychology.

And the first impression is best. We're just a tiny class, so none of the undergrad ~30+ student danger of divisivity and exclusiveness, as the small ratio of students to teachers help coordination better. It can be done in large classes but for 70% of situations where this occurs, it may not be that effective. That said, Masters is a WHOLE NEW experience of better communication and pretty much hedging everything on individual motivation and action--that's also meaning that they trust you with doing your work, and also trusting you in doing groupworks with each other; this balance of pressure helps and makes me actually motivated to get my grades high (compared to undergrad where I was all *bluh* because of the rigid pace, and the rigid curriculum, as it felt so slow to me that it didn't feel like it mattered x.x [even if it does. It does. ;~;])
So I'm feeling pretty pretty motivated. :D

Hey, maybe I'd be good at it too! People are always saying my brain matter is dense. :P

What is the highest density of neurons you can get before things start to break?

Its at least double the average of mammals, as birds do fine at that density. Some of them, anyway. Can probably pad the numbers in their favor if we just forget turkeys, pigeons, chickens, and dodos ever existed.

I always thought pigeons seemed pretty smart. Can't be too dumb if they're used to carry messages, after all.

Of course, corvids make me a little ashamed of how little I get out of my substantially larger brain. Tiny, but like, way smart.

I'm still pretty bad but I actually got second place in PUBG earlier today. That was pretty awesome.

What's somewhat confusing is I really want to eat some spagettios. ... Why do I wanna eat spagettios?

They tie the messages  to them. You can make a rock carry messages if you tie the message to it and point it in the right direction.

That being said, IIRC some studies actually showed that rock pigeons are not quite as moronic as they seem. They could be trained to solve math problems, even.

Then again, you can train bees to solve math problems, so that's not saying much either

Until I looked up this video, I didn't see what you did there.  I'm a bit more obsessed with cervids, myself, but (so) I should really know the difference by now.

I recently discovered a youtube channel called Orison Onision.  He happened to do an amazing rendition of Death Note all by himself, with absurdly good makeup work.

Worried about Death Note spoilers?  Don't!  Somehow he fuckin improved the setting, while playing every character perfectly.  Or at least humorously.  Ok to be honest, the "main" character is a bit of a joke here.  But if you know Death Note, this will be even funnier.

It's still funny if you don't, though.  Even/especially the first 3 minutes.  And there are no spoilers.

End of video states they were specifically trained to do that, they didn't figure it out for themselves.

Yeah, seems like they were taught each stage separately.  I guess "brilliant" isn't the right word, I'm still impressed that they were able to remember each step and perform it in the correct sequence.

It's almost like they already have a "drop rock in water" skillset for some reason, like the aesop.  I don't think they were taught "Use stick to manipulate unreachable thing", just trained to use it in specific situations.
