With anime the answer may just be yes.

Good point. Hey, if Gurren Laggan can have mecha piloting larger mecha, then it makes perfect sense to assume a ship-turned-into-a-girl can be part of another ship's crew.

In her head there's a ship-girl pilot, and in her head there's another. Like Russian nesting dolls, it's ship-girls all the way down.

...not sure if you mean she's a girl on a ship or a ship in girl form o.o;

The characters in Kancolle are personifications of actual Japanese warships. Kiso is a kuma class light cruiser.

An odd premise, but I shouldn't judge a ship by it's hull.

What's odd about that? Personification of various objects have always been there.

They've been making Zaku-chans since before the Zaku was even around, I do believe. It is a long and storied tradition. Anthropomorphize all the things!

I started volunteering at the library today and omigosh there's so much stuff that I never realized was there. There's weekly music performances and movie nights, a free redbox in the teen center,  a video studio, and even a freaking free 3D printer! Admittedly a crappily set up one, but they're working on getting better programs and equipment by mid March.

It's odd because 1: It is the first time I have encountered personification in the area of battleships, and 2: I needed a lead in to a weak joke that also alludes to a Garfield strip I read once. :P

Let's see, the closest would be either TUGS, which is Thomas the Tank Engine with ships or I'm pretty sure I've seen anime personified tanks at some point, was it a game on Steam?

You're thinking of War of the Human Tanks, on Steam. It's...odd. I kinda liked the story that was beginning to develop (just played the demo) but could not get into the actual game. Shame.

For the first time... EVER, really... I finished a Civ4 game.

A Space victory, of all things. Yes, for my first time actually playing the game to completion, I ended up playing the victory that takes the longest time. :P I EM A GEHNUS

What makes this extra-special is that I could name on one hand how many games I've... EVER finished. Like, ever. I think the Ratchet and Clank series, one or two games of GalCiv2, Homeworld 2, Plants vs. Zombies, the Left for Dead campaigns, and Half Life 1+2+2.3+2.6 And I can't even think of any that I've finished in the last 3 years, unless you count second run-throughs of the Half Life series.

Here's hoping I can keep up the habit of actually fucking finishing what I started, even if it's only in games. :D

To put this in perspective: I've never had a goblin siege in DF. I've never seen Mars in OldXCom. I've never gotten past the hub room from Amnesia. I've never managed to create my own kingdom in Mount and Blade. I've barely ever ranged beyond Balmora in Morrowind. My longest games in CK2 has been maybe 100, 150 years. I've gotten as far as starting the Barbarossa campaign in Hearts of Iron. I've only ever gotten to the first boss in Borderlands. I've only finished Ellis Island in Deus Ex once. Stopped playing after that. Long Live The Queen? Kept dying to the archer, haven't picked it up since. I think I've only finished the subways in Max Payne 1. I don't even remember where I left off in Psychonauts! Never finished Sniper Elite 1 or 2.

So actually -finishing a fucking game- for once, is like... Like. It's like. There's no other word, just like.

You don't finish a lot of games... Then again nether do I, but games like Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup, Elona and ToME aren't meant to be finished, so that is my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

Except Dungeon Crawl is meant to be finished. There is a way to win. I think ToME does too but I could be mistaken.

They both have a way to win, technically, but its not exactly easy...

Hmm, now you've got me thinking how many games I've beat, because I'm also really bad at finishing games.

There's Star Fox: 64, from me as a kid.
Then, um...
Crysis, I beat that.
Plants Vs. Zombies.
The campaign from Star Wars: Battlefront 2 (As if that freaking counts)
X-COM: Enemy Within, that was just recently.
Alien Swarm (Also doesn't really count)
Guns of Icarus (the original, so it also doesn't count)
(hold on, I'm going through my game list)
The campaign for Unreal Tournament 2004 and UT3 (neither really count)
And, that's pretty much it.

So basically, I only finish a game of it's really dang short. I've only beaten a round of Warlock: Master of the Arcane once, and that was with only 1 enemy on the easiest difficulty.
I'm still thinking....
I also beat the original Paper Mario, and the campaigns for Super Smash Bros., but really only the one for Brawl is even considerable, and just barely at that.
I've had to have beaten more than that...
Other than pathetic flash games on the internet, I can't think of any others.
