I've just started a new game with the resolve to once and for all learn adventure mode... without getting my throat ripped out by wolves. This time, knowing the dangers that lie beyond the village I decide to look around a bit first and find a camel. I name this camel Bob. Bob had an iron buckler in his inventory which I wanted and, knowing no other way of retrieving it, I attack Bob, cleaving him in two and sending the corpse flying into a tree.
Obviously, a fight starts to break out, with Pundik, an axeman I recruited joining in the fun. A crossbowman shoots the sword out of my guy's hand, and I briefly retaliate with a thrown turtle. That's when things start to get weird. You see, I start getting these messages about a shopkeeper breaking a poor child's arm, and a muskox starts mauling the crossbowman.
After throwing a few things at the crossbowman (namely the buckler, another turtle, my sword and the bolt embedded in my hand) he finally dies and the muskox bleeds to death. Meanwhile, Pundik is just
wailing on the natives.
Since then, everything has devolved into chaos. As far as I can figure, there are no actual
sides. Everyone is killing everybody. Neighbor against neighbor. I've seen a mob of children run up and literally tear the limbs off a merchant. One of my later incarnations was wandering down a deserted, corpse filled street when Pundik charged out of a house, roared something about my demise and was promptly mowed down by a bowman, who was himself gutted by a spearman.
Is this supposed to be happening? Edit: No, I no longer care. Far too much fun.
Update: Ooh, right between the eyes! (Mental note: must have that spear)
