Now that I think about it, what are scribe skills good for, if they didn't help me sign up for something?

Writing things down(or reading). Depending on the actions you take, that could come in very useful later.

---------------------------------------------------------

I clean the lab REALLY, REALLY well. I shall be applauded for my awesomeness when I get done.
3: You start working on cleaning up the lab. You get part done, but slip on the wet floor and fall into the sticky mess.

I go ask the guards instead.  Or talk to the mayor, roll for it.  Evens, I go to the mayor, odds I go to the guards.

3: You head south to the guard barracks. As you approach, you see the Captain of the Watch standing nearby. You walk over to talk to him, but he mistakes you for a civilian and tells you he doesn't have time for you right now.

I'll use my survival kit to bandage up my face, leaving eye-holes of course, then continue reading my book, careful to aim away from myself.
1: You start to bandage up your face, but forget to leave eye-holes. Or air-holes, for that matter.

Status:
Blind
Winded

I try to casually push the conversation towards something a bit more relevant to my interests. I tell a nice wizardry joke, then start to ask around about magic.

3: You think of a joke about a wizard, a goat, and an egg. Unfortunately, it's not as funny as you thought it would be.

Hm... I know how to impres them.

Strike a Menacing Pose
5: You strike a very menacing pose.
(What does that do, exactly?)

"So, uh, speaking of wizards, does anyone here know anything about them?"
I attempt to gather whatever information I can about wizards and magic.

I finish cleaning the lab. It will look like new when I'm done here.

Ask the warden if there are any threats that I could take care of.

Well, it's been about 24 hours since the last update...

Should I just assume Bulborbish wants to strike another menacing pose?

"So, uh, speaking of wizards, does anyone here know anything about them?"
I attempt to gather whatever information I can about wizards and magic.
2: Nobody in the tavern knows about wizards. They're all skilled craftsmen, not scholars.
I finish cleaning the lab. It will look like new when I'm done here.
5: You do a superb job at cleaning the lab! In fact, the lab is so clean, you learn a little about alchemy.

+2 to Alchemy
I'll take the bandages back off, forget about trying to cover up my face and read my spell-book, MAKING SURE TO AIM AWAY FROM MYSELF!!!
2: You can't get the bandages off. They're firmly attached to your face.

Ask the warden if there are any threats that I could take care of.

3: The warden says he doesn't need help with anything right now, but the guard needs somebody to help muck out the horse stables.

Remember: Using dirty potion bottles is a good way to create new potions.

I again sign up for a class on Arcane Theory, being sure I sign the proper form this time.
