The only cool thing in my desktop is the backgrounds. Now only if I could make a program that automatically changed them.
Win7 has an option to do that, somewhere.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

You can just Google "Vista background switcher" or something.

MS has these "power tools" or something that go all the way back to, if I remember correctly, win2000. They add workspaces, changing wallpapers, and I even think they had a compiz-like cube at some point.

powertools go back to 98 at least, i think 95. never used it, but they've got some cool "why isn't this included?!" stuff from what i've read

EDIT: it's called powertoys, not powertools. thx google :)

EDIT2: more google-fu seem so show that the last version of powertoys was for XP...

What's with all those huge, distracting fractal desktop images?

Speaking of fractals, I used to use this as my dual-monitor-spanned background.

It's from my own Mandelbrot renderer, so I'm quite proud of it.

Whoo, boring desktop. I spend most of my time looking at my desktop in an explorer window, so it's pretty rare for me to actually see my background.

Mandelbrots can look pretty damn good.

If you like it, here's another, that I used to use on a single monitor.
And the renderer itself (which is a terrible program, but produces sweet output (at least I think so), especially when using the 256x Anti-Aliasing option).
Maybe I should start a thread just for this somewhere else.

Powertoys included a really crappy virtual desktop switcher (maybe I was spoiled by Linux, but I thought it was pretty crappy)... I'm pretty sure there was never a "compiz-like cube" in any version and I don't think there was a wallpaper switcher.  I remember having to get third party tools to even support multi-monitor wallpapers for some time.

I must have mixed powertoys and compiz, whoops. I'm positive they had a wallpaper switcher at some point.

Fakedit: Yep, they did. Don't know if it's worth anything though.
