Woo only 3 years to go, so I think I'm on pace to finish by the 28th. I just hope that it's enough in game time to finish everything.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who went overboard on making everything out of green glass...

Also, you can manufacture vomit at a smelter.  Subsequently removing the smelter spews vomit over a surprising area.

I only used green glass for my pipes, screws, and blocks for magma transport.

ok, time to make the elves mad by cutting down more trees, despite their diplomat's pleading.

Isn't it much more fun to piss off the elves by allowing them to 'discover' the goblin ambushes? That's what happened to me at least. We'll see how they like it come next Spring.

It's the fourth soil layer, and the second aquifer layer.

Occasionally, sand tiles pop up when grass is trampled as well.

There's a more reliable way:

Sand is not mentioned in that article. Furthermore constructing walls or floors on ground level creates peat squares, not sand.

I don't know how I got my couple of squares of ground-level sand, but meeting area is keeping the one I use most un-grassed well enough.

It depends on what level you construct it. I have 5 permanent subterranean sand squares that were formerly obsidian.

(Sorry, not a trained psychiatrist.) <rimshot!>

Martin was referring to "strange removal behaviour" in that article. I've got several sand squares on the surface (that I quickly covered with a roof tile).  As mentioned in the article, there are ways to encourage that.

Short of that, as mentioned above (today) and many times before in this thread, there is an entire layer of sand.  Dive down thru the aquifer and grab some. (Various methods also discussed prev in this thread, and countless others.)
