Tax collector actually works
« on: August 17, 2009, 10:18:30 pm »

I keep finding new things in DF every now and then..

Didn't know this; the tax collector actually works for a living:

Here's her victim

And here's the tax collector..
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Mind the thought 'happy to have pleased a noble'. It seems she even collects tax in the name of the Duke.

Closer inspection of my other nobles revealed no happy thoughts in them for recieving tax money.
Unless this thought is also called 'pleased at the state of demands / pleased to have a mandate deadline met.'

So unfortunatly I cannot track down the noble responsible. It would make sense for it to be the Duke.

Yeah.. That's correct.. And pretty common knowledge.
I play since the 2d version, but have never seen the tax collector work though.

Alright, so tax collectors do that all the time, you just don't check the dwarves thought enough, although, what if they tax a naked dude, with no money or room?

Body part removal, like real "tax collectors".

It's a thankless job,
But somebody's got to do it.
Peelin' off the tissue, inch by inch,
Skinnin' off the muscles too!

Hm. Well, my latest tax collector just has 'choked on smoke undergound lately' as his status, but that's because I had a noble roaster built before the spring migration wave.
The smoke was the duke, duchess consort, and the hammerer going up in flames.
Sans the hammerer's hammer, though. That got snatched off him just before.

The Raven has been knocked unconcious!

Elves do it in trees. Humans do it in wooden structures. Dwarves? Dwarves do it underground. With magma.

In my latest fort, I watched the tax collector and his guard walk into the mayor's office.  The mayor was a hoarder and had items all over the floor and in his coffers.

I've watched tax collectors seize items before, but this guy proceeded to walk, in turn, into the mayor's bedroom, office and dining room.  He absolutely cleaned the poor guy out.  Haulers arrived shortly and took the items to the stockpiles.

The peasants, not wanting to hear the mayor's complaints, elected someone else the following summer.
