You know, I just realized that this is literally a 'shitty twist'. Clearly this SBaHJ arc is prophesying something Caliborn-related!

Interestingly, Cascade was the first Homestuck related thing I saw. It drew me in fairly quickly, so I guess I've been with it for almost a couple years now. Neat.
The first Homestuck thing I saw was that corpse party. I was pretty confused. Then I tried to read it from the beginning, but got bored after 2 acts. The thing that re-enabled my interest in Homestuck was that Dave-Karkat romance conversation.

The first thing I saw of Homestuck was the link to it from Problem Sleuth.

People were gushing in some bay12 thread about Bro cutting the meteor in half (it was on-topic).  I think Dragnar or Vector posted links to Dave: Abscond, which got me interested.  It took a few attempts and months before I got to WV: Ascend, at which point it stopped being "stay long enough to see the cool Bro stuff" and I became an actual fan.

I still maintain that Act 1 is kinda slow and inane unless you're already a fan, in which case it's a delightful prequel full of callbacks (callforwards?).  Inventory management: not that funny.  But the in-jokes had to originate somewhere.

I got into Homestuck after curiously searching the music in this slightly terrible SFM video.

Every dwarf, every dwarven man, women, and child, that comes to our forts will die there; it's truly sad when you think about it. And we ask our selves, why? Why do we push forward, knowing this fate, that we are destined for failure? Because, this game grasps the concept of mortality. Some games you can never lose, but we all stop eventually, causing a 'death' to those game's 'worlds'. Dwarf Fortress gives us a definite end, knowing that we will leave that world eventually, and move on to more.
