If you notice, one is void like Roxy and the other is life like Jane.

She says that they aren't the spritey rings on this page:
She says they're not the rings that Jack and PM are wearing, because that's what John was thinking about.

But wouldn't they be essentially the same game objects in each session, only differing in the amount of orbs? Besides the orbs added by prototyping, why would any two sessions' rings behave any differently?
Because lolplot. We already know that BQ's ring behaves differently, rendering Roxy invisible (which is not a power conferred by the original session's rings, and those rings ordinarily have no effect on non-Carapaces).

Can't always go with weird plot shit. Look, as I'm going over this update, looking at all the details, Aranea's not specifically saying that the rings are indeed the spritey rings. She's being vague. So, I accept the possibility that the rings could be the void session's rings, but I prefer to believe that the rings are not the spritey rings.

The void session's rings aren't spritey rings, though. They're decidedly non-spritey, because the session itself is decidedly non-spritey.

The void ring has already been shown to have different powers. It makes you invisible.
But the void session's rings are the spritey rings because they were put into the game intended to be sprited. While it may not have happened, they were intended for that purpose. A closet rod used to beat people over the head is still a closet rod.

No they weren't. The game was never intended to be sprited. A void session is a void session, always and forever. Remember? That's how time works, dude.

No-
Gah-
Okay. The rings are a constant, right?
The reason they are put into the game -in general, not talking about specific sessions-, is to be sprited. They obtain the powers of any sprite gathered before entry, if any sprite is gathered before then. They always have that use, even if it is never used. It's like the aforementioned closet rod. It might have never even been within a mile of a closet. You still call it a closet rod. Or a closet dowel if you want to. It had the potential to be installed in a closet to hang clothes from, but it never happened. Same thing with void session rings. They had the potential, so they get called spritey rings.

No, they never had the potential. Void sessions never have the potential.

ROSE: But it doesn't really matter. As I said, the session was designed this way before they began playing. Any efforts to prototype may have been in vain regardless. Possibly subject to sabotage.

That says "may". Sure it'd probably not have worked, but there's still that chance that it would have. The other guy's got a completely different weapon specifically designed for weaponing and he's keeping you from installing your closet rod. "May" makes all the difference. There's still the possibility that you beat the other guy into submission with his severed right arm and happily go along to install the closet rod.

Wait, wouldn't both spritey rings just be void rings?
They are both from a void session.

I think it's more about Roxy than the void session now.

And stop calling them spritey rings!

The session had the potential, like all sessions, to create a universe. However, the alpha timeline said that it was destined to be a void session.

I take that to mean the session was designed not to be sprited, whether or not spriting was possible.

Case in point: No towers.
Can you show me a picture?

Wait, wouldn't both spritey rings just be void rings?
They are both from a void session.
They're still spritey rings. Just void spritey rings. Still a type of spritey ring.

Maybe we could call them Prototyping Rings? Or Protorings for short?

Dude, every pic of alpha derse and prospit shows them untowered. Did you seriously not notice until now?

Wait, wouldn't both spritey rings just be void rings?
They are both from a void session.
It seems the ring got powers connected to Roxy somehow, while the other to Jane.

I made the assumption that the scepters are connected to the male players, in some kind of weird Aspect-not-quite-prototyping.

Maybe we could call them Prototyping Rings? Or Protorings for short?
yes please
