The kickstarter has raised over $270,000 in less than one day. Goddamn, I love this fandom.

And people are already making counter-movements!

(I really do know where he is coming from though, and I kinda agree with him.)

Honestly?

The guy comes off as a total hypocrite. He's sitting there updating his blog when he could be working in a soup kitchen. He's spending money on trivial luxuries like internet access when he could be donating all that cash to Goodwill.

Seriously, he's complaining because people actually sent Hussie money to fund the creation of a Homestuck game. Now I don't know about you, but I pay for the creation of video games and movies all the time. The only difference is that I usually do so retroactively, by purchasing the item at a store of some sort.

So to lambast people spending money on this sort of thing, I'd really have to decry people spending money on luxuries of all kinds, ever. (And, wouldn't you know it, a lot first world economies run on people spending money on luxuries. It's why recessions tend to be vicious cycles. People can't afford to spend money on luxuries, so nearly every business out there makes less money, and can afford to spend even less on luxuries.)

Honestly. That money's not any more wasted than the money spent on television programs, movies, books, comics, cards, sports, theater, cars, or pretty much anything of that nature, and if this dude has decided to stop following Homestuck because the fandom isn't throwing all their money at panhandlers on the roadside then he'd better swear off of everything and retreat to the mountains and live as a hermit. (I doubt he'll be producing a lot of cash with that lifestyle, but really: houses are an unecessary drain on precious charity money when you can live in a cave for free!)  Meanwhile, I will still be here, occasionally enjoying peoples' totally-unnecessary-in-the-grand-scheme-of-things fiction.

Man, just replace some letters with 6's and 9's and bam, kankri SJW rant.

Hussie doesn't need to write Kankri's dialogue, tumblr does it for him.

This person asks: Why would people give money to Homestuck when they could be using it to help the poor?
I ask: Why would you want to help the poor when you could be helping Homestuck instead?

Hussie is obviously the higher priority.

Apparently, we are trending toward $10,000,000.

I can believe it.

1400% over-funding. O.o

I doubt it will actually get that much money (After all, the trending isn't a prediction and tends to be obscenely high in the first few days), but like I said just said one comment ago, one way or another, this will be getting funded.

If we don't break 500k by midnight my time, I will metaphorically eat my socks.

I feel like, if we reach 4,130,000, Hussie should stop accepting donations. This will never happen - the furious storm of donations will die down within the next day or two, since while our fandom is insane, part of that is keeping up with current news at a preposterous rate, so everyone who can and wants to donate will do so fairly fast. There may be a couple of last-minute flurries as pay days roll out, but I'm thinking that whatever we wind up with by the end of day 2 is probably going to be within $50,000 of the final result. Cover-my-ass guess of day 3 as a possibility.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

I'd still pay that much. If I had a job. Either way, I hope they'll be put in the store, so that way I can get one after I get a new job.

He said "rose". It's now $405, I believe. I'm no longer tempted, thank Scratch.

And I'd still pay that much. Granted, I'd be getting a hella lot of other stuff too, but obviously the Plushies are the most important.
