I don't remember anything saying Lrd English ate planets, or universes. The phrasing of everything about Lord English is pointedly vague, built to sound nefarious, without actually saying that he wants to kill things or destroy.

Since it's relevant again, I thought I'd reiterate. Lord English doesn't feed on the corpses of universes, he just "has the entire cadaver of the expired universe to pick apart at his whim", which still sounds to me like he's not actually the horrible Endboss/Monster Hussie would have us believe, and that he's carefully dodging describing what he actually is to preserve the surprise. A niggling voice in the back of my mind still says disgruntled alternate-timeline god-tier Dave-in-a-Felt-Suit is a possibility.
