I think that's an integral part of who he is. Just as Aradia foresaw it. He's the kind of guy who would run a doomsday virus to make a point, and also the kind of guy who would mercilessly mock anyone for being that stupid. So, if we give him a chance to talk to himself, he will inevitably go against the warnings of his future selves, shoot himself in the foot, and then call his past self a blithering idiot for being about to do it, completing the time loop and increasing the animosity between his time-displaced selves causing him to do that kind of thing more often.

I think his rare moments of competence shine all the brighter for it.

And yeah, I think these memos are incredibly funny.

I for one didn't see this coming at all, but it's magnificent.  Hearts Boxcars is now Tavros' self esteem come to life.  The only characterization I remembered from him was hating time travel, but then he is Hearts.

Now the only question is, which poor Trolls will be subjected to Diamonds Droog for a guide?  No one is going to enjoy that.  Except Diamonds.
