No Walls
« on: June 15, 2009, 01:06:09 am »

I just want to say, it is very possible to get away clean with fort with no walls. My resort is coming along nicely, above ground, all wood, not a WALL anyhwere but roofs applenty.
I will posts some pics shortly, but my dwarves seem to be happy with their wall less bedrooms. I think I'm going to have to work hard how ever to raise the values for the nobles. eek.

Taking on the pancake fortress?

Be sure to get plenty of syrup to cover it in.

This is awesome, someone needs to make a mushroom fortress. The fort is inside a giant mushroom shaped building.

How do you make the roof without walls to support it?

A roof can be supported by stairs

You can?  That is something I had never known.  May make use of that.  Will the building collapse whenever you cut the tree or does it bug and stay up?

To my knowledge it'll stay up if there are other trees holding up the flooring, like normal with walls and such.

I'd presume that it checks for caveins just like if you dug out a wall.

Eh, that doesn't work.  Just tried and it says that the space is blocked when you try to build above the trees.

You've posted this in the wrong forum. Please move this to the Elf Fortress board.

I was able to build a wall on top of the tree, but apparently trees don't support buildings.

It pulverized the tree, though, so it wasn't a total loss.
