I'm Dutch, although I will not have the time to translate much for you, if you PM me with stuff that is done I can read it for you to check whether it is correct if you wish.

If you D/l the most recent version, you can see the half-done dutch file.

I am south african, and (used to be) fluent-ish in afrikaans, so the dutch was less of a mystery. input from n' egte nederlandse mens is always welcome. :)

Sorry for taking so long - was on hollidays.

http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=1240

I however do not know how to convert it into DF compatible format.

Nascent! Rise from your grave!

(Honestly, what the hell happened to this thread? It's real languages and coherent names, for God's sake!)

Hm... what encoding should I use to preserve diacritics? UTF-8?

BTW I hope you do not mind that texts in DF will be little... weird. We have brutal grammar, we even modify ends of words depending on situation (for example "This is a lion" is "Toto je lev" but "Kill that lion" is "Zabij toho lva").

Edit: Can I use multiple words translation? Because shoe = bota, boot = vysoka bota, etc.

Yes... they are very similar languages. The biggest difference is the alphabet.

I am honoured that you will make the northern dwarves speak Danish... If you need help with the Danish stuff, I'll give a hand :)

Would be nice if you updated the first post with links to the various files, so people wouldn't have to comb through the thread to find them.
Great Idea though, I now have latin speaking dwarves  ;D

However, I noticed a bug - the latin file straight from the download does not work properly, I got names like 'Yvuqury qumsyr, Miner is more experienced.'
However, I also found the cause
Code: [Select]
language_LATIN,

[OBJECT:LANGUAGE]

[TRANSLATION:LATIN,]

remove the commas and it works fine.

done.

and in version i posted on the first page, the latin file is corrected and contains first names if you want to use them.

thanks again DaveT for the latin file. :)
