Still, gives me the impression someone has said "well, there's disparity between SMP and singleplayer. Lets merge the 2, that way stuff applies across both of them and everyone will benifit". Except that they've not really fixed many of the problems (eg, phantom mobs, chunk errors) so now singleplayer is riddled with SMP bugs for not much in the way of appreciable gain (for now, and if you don't really use mods, probably forever)

Why, yes, of course, companies love screwing customers over. It's great for business, didn't you know?

Many many compaies have screwed over certian subsections of their playerbases to please other sections of varying size and importance however.

Re: merging SP and MP:

My opinions:
1) What took them so damn long
2) Why the heck wasn't designed like that from the start (that is unless, of course, it was never intended to be multiplayer).

Segregating SP and MP is a bad, BAD idea. This isn't the 90's.

I mean, honestly, while the SMP players might not be quite as large in number, i get the impression that they are much more vocal. So if it hadn't been fixed by now I wouldn't be expecting it to be fixed any quicker now. Until then, combat on singleplayer just doesn't really work properly anymore unfortunatly.

There's just no pleasing some people.  I swear, when there's a patch in Minecraft all sorts of people come out of the woodwork and complain about every little detail. 

Just roll back to a previous version if you don't like it.  It's pretty simple to do.

Yeah. I recall a topic where somebody complained about SPECIFIC mods that broke due to an update.
The MC forums really arent a place where you want to be, even more so when a new update comes out. Or a game that looks like minecraft a tiny bit comes out.

The thing is, if there are no updates, "0MFG Y U NO UPD43T U SUC!".

Note to self: don't create more large biome worlds unless you're prepared to deal with the consequences.

First try: oceans. I spawned in the water next to a tiny island containing a few weeds.

Second try: swamp. It's doable, but it's flat, boring, and the only animals I've seen so far are sheep and squid.
