Does anyone else like to add a bit of realism to Minecraft?  Without using mods, just using a limitation or two.

In my world, I only make swords out of metal.  There were no such things as stone swords ( that did particularly well, maybe obsidian ) in real life.  I used stone axes at the start, I wonder if that was particularly accurate...

An easy stone axe to make is an Adze. It is more useful for debarking/smoothing logs but can be used to cut down trees as well. Stone tools of all sorts were used throughout history.

If you want to call out minecraft tools for inaccuracy, go for the wooden pickaxe which can somehow mine stone. It's possible with certain woods, I suppose, but I don't know of any historical uses of an all-wood pickaxe or other tool for mining stone.

You could lead them to the moat and make them stay. You'd need an awful lot, of course

EDIT: Hunger games are a terrible idea full of hacking.

There are three ways to play:

1: Try to get things from the chests in the center. Pick a chest full of bread. Get stabbed to death by a hacker with a steel sword in one hit while you're picking your favorite loaf.
2: Run away from the center. Get stalked and murdered by a hacker with steel everything he got as a perk for killing eight other players.
3: Hack.

It might be interesting if you had a few minutes or seconds to get away from the center and start planning, or if you had the opportunity to dig blocks and craft things.

Just copy the folder where everything is stored to a new location, delete it from the original location, run minecraft to generate a new folder, and install whatever mods you want for the modded version.
Then copy that into a folder alongside the saved vanilla version, and switch them out whenever you need to.

All you need is loads and loads of raw fish.

Anyway, I did fairly well in the Hunger Games game that DFC just had. I was somewhat overconfident with the Knockback II iron sword and Fire Protection I leathers I found, especially when I found the guy with iron armor and a diamond sword.

I think the best solution, is to take everything minecraft related, stick it all into one folder, then copy that folder. The minecraft.exe's and everything should stick with the respective folders.

Use the MultiMC program I linked. It really is good, and works very well. You can keep multiple instances of minecraft of different versions with different mods and run whichever one you want. It also lets you specify how much memory to allocate, lets you make backups of your saves, and a few other things.

I'll try that one, thanks. Sounds more convenient than making back-ups of everything whenever I decide to test some random beer mod.
